The Dot View Series Tactile Graphics Display, model DV-1, is a tactile graphics display designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This portable tactile display device converts graphical information from a computer screen into touchable images in real time. It can display all types of tactile images, including text characters, braille, magnification and reduction, scrolling, and moving images. Users can touch the image of a computer mouse in performing the click and drag operation. Maps, animal figures, and other line art shown on a computer monitor can be displayed as tactile images, as can scanned photographs and images from digital cameras. The display's layout has a reversible design that allows the user to choose either a left or right orientation for its operation. The display has 768 active pins in a 24 x 32 dot display array. The refresh rate is more than 20 frames per second, depending on software used. The display has a four-directional joystick, used mainly for scrolling, four arrow keys for up-down, left-right screen movements, and three multi-purpose function buttons. POWER: Uses an alternating current (AC) adapter (included). DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 3.7 x 5.9 x 8.7 inches. WEIGHT: The main unit weighs 4.6 pounds and the AC adapter weighs 7 ounces.
