The Access Liberty is an accessible sailboat designed for use by individuals with severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This schooner-style boat has a single hammock seat and is steered by a manual joystick operating twin rudders to maintain helm control when fully heeled. High coamings and wide side decks keep the boat dry even at extreme angles of heel. It has a mainsail and a free standing jib (foresail), which are both reefed and unreefed by single hauling lines. The mainsail is controlled by a manual mainsheet and the jib is self tacking. To prevent capsizing and promote stability, the boat has a weighted centerboard keel and its hull has positive buoyancy. OPTIONS: Servo assist joystick. DIMENSIONS: 12 feetlong; beam, 4 feet; and draft, 3 feet, 6 inches. The total sail area is 79 square feet; the mainsail is 60 square feet (reefable to 5.4 square feet); the jib sail is 19 square feet. The main mast is 18 feet, 4 inches unstayed and the jib mast is 10 feet, 4 inches unstayed. WEIGHT: 160 pounds. CAPACITY: 264 pounds for sailors plus 66 pounds of luggage. COLORS: A choice of ten deck and sail flash colors, including maroon, red, orange, yellow, lime, light blue, dark blue, lilac, pink, or jade.
