The Matsumoto Stereo-Copying System is a tactile graphics copier system designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The system consists of a stereo-copying machine and a stero-copying developer, which are used together with special capsule-coated paper. The capsule paper resembles braille paper in color and thickness, but its surface is coated uniformly with several hundred million thermo-expandable microcapsules that look like flour and which expand to several hundred times their original volume when they absorb optical or thermal energy. The stereo-copying machine is used to copy drawings, graphs, or text onto the capsule paper, which is then inserted into the stereo-copying developer, which treats the paper to produce three-dimensional copies. The copier can also make reduced and enlarged copies, and can be used to make copies on ordinary copy paper. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): Copier is 480 x 653 x 650 millimeters; developer is 378 x 485 x 407 millimeters. WEIGHT: Copy machine is 59 kilograms; developer is 26 kilograms. POWER: Maximum power consumption of copier is 1.5 kilowatts (kW); maximum power consumption of developer is 1.2 kW. SIZES: Paper is available in letter and legal size. OPTIONS: Sheet feeders for ordinary copying paper.
