Lambertville Post hosts a luncheon for area veterans

Bedford Now - 9/7/2017

The Lambertville Post 9656 Auxiliary hosted a luncheon Aug. 16 for veterans of the Michigan Veterans Foundation. MVF operates the Detroit Veterans Center, a transitional housing facility and resource center for veterans.

The menu included chicken, ham, potatoes and sides; and each veteran attending was presented with gifts of new bath towels, toothpaste, socks and other personal care items.

The bus also was loaded up with other donations that will help those living at the facility for months to come.

Those donations, in addition to a financial contribution at the event given directly to a wounded veteran, came from more than 2,500 items that the VFW auxiliary collected.

Those who were thanked for “above and beyond” efforts included Bedford Senior Center Thursday Quilters, St. Anthony Parishioners, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Parishioners, residents of Enfield Condos, Pinnacle Eye Group, Dr. Biggs DDS, and Millie Eddinger.

“Thank you, Bedford, you are awesome!” the auxiliary said in its announcement.
