VFW to host first-ever 'Salute to Veterans' dinner, dance

Star Beacon - 4/4/2019

April 04-- Apr. 4--ASHTABULA -- An evening filled with a patriotic atmosphere, food and live music to honor local veterans will take place April 20 at the Ashtabula Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943 on Main Avenue.

The Salute to Veterans event will begin with a homemade roast beef dinner served 6-7:30 p.m., with dancing to follow until 10 p.m. The cost is a $15 donation.

Music will be provided by Monte Foltz and Just Lee (Lee Ann Bancroft). There also will be a 50/50 raffle, side boards and door prizes.

"It's the first-ever Salute to Veterans and we are excited about it," Foltz said. "We hope to have a great turnout."

A mobile veteran center bus will be parked at the VFW for tours, and two trucks from the Cleveland Auto Show will be on display.

The VFW recently received a $2,500 grant from the Home Depot Foundation and remodeled the interior of the building, covering up the dark wall paneling from the 1960s and painting the walls. About a dozen VFW members received help from employees from the Home Depot in Ashtabula Township.

For tickets, call 440-812-7588 or 440-813-7564.
