BOISE, Idaho — Consumers, caregivers, community-based organizations, and county government workers in fourteen California counties can soon use the in-depth information of the Healthwise Knowledgebase to help people make better health decisions. Healthwise, Incorporated, and Trilogy Integrated Resources LLC announced today that the unbiased, evidence-based health information will be included in Trilogy’s Network of Care Web sites. Both Network of Care and the Healthwise Knowledgebase are designed to put consumers first in their own health decision making.

Trilogy works with state and county governments and other human service entities to establish one-stop, community-based health information Web sites. Trilogy’s Network of Care Web sites create “virtual communities” to give consumers and their families access to comprehensive information, advocacy tools, and other resources. The sites also help the public and private service delivery communities to provide the right service to the right person at the right time. Trilogy’s Network of Care for Seniors and People with Disabilities, for example, is used in California by nearly two-thirds of the population.

The Healthwise Knowledgebase strengthens the value of the Network of Care Web sites with a reliable, comprehensive source of health information. People can find helpful, decision-focused information on more than 5,000 evidence-based topics on health conditions, medical tests and procedures, medications, and everyday health and wellness issues. Innovative Healthwise Decision Points are especially valuable in helping people make decisions about which care is best for them.

“We are thrilled to offer the Healthwise Knowledgebase as part of our Network of Care Web sites,” said Bruce Bronzan, president of Trilogy Integrated Resources. “We are especially grateful for the tireless efforts of our Healthwise partners, which now enable us to bring this incredibly valuable and rich health information into the public sector for the first time.

“Because of the huge success of the Network of Care for Seniors and People with Disabilities, we will launch new Network of Care sites for Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Kids, and Domestic Abuse in 2003,” Bronzan continued. “It will be an honor to introduce the Healthwise Knowledgebase to more and more underserved consumer groups that are in vital need of objective, fact-based information.”

“Having access to evidence-based information is critical when making health decisions,” said Healthwise President and COO Gene Drabinski. “Patients and their caregivers can trust that the Healthwise Knowledgebase contains medical information and decision-support tools to help them make the best decisions.”
